Description

Indulge in the comforting, classic taste of American-style sugar cookies with this easy copycat recipe. These soft, buttery treats are perfect for any occasion, from holiday gatherings to cozy evenings at home.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

– 1 large egg

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

6. Scoop the dough by the tablespoonful and roll into balls. Place the balls about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.

7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a more festive touch, roll the dough balls in additional granulated sugar before baking. Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
