Description
This Apple Whiskey Bacon Jam is a delightful gourmet spread that combines the sweet and smoky flavors of apples, whiskey, and crispy bacon. It’s the perfect accompaniment for charcuterie boards, sandwiches, and so much more!
Ingredients
- 6 slices of bacon, diced
- 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup whiskey
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. 1. In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the bacon from the pan, reserving 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease.
2. 2. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, whiskey, and apple cider vinegar to the skillet with the reserved bacon grease. Stir to combine.
3. 3. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and the mixture has thickened, about 15-20 minutes.
4. 4. Stir in the ground cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.
5. 5. Remove the jam from the heat and stir in the cooked bacon pieces.
6. 6. Transfer the Apple Whiskey Bacon Jam to a clean jar or airtight container. Allow to cool completely before refrigerating.
Notes
This jam can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It’s delicious on crusty bread, crackers, or as a topping for cheese and charcuterie boards. For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
