Description

Bite-Sized Blooming Onions are a delightful, crispy appetizer that’s perfect for parties, game days, or any occasion. These easy-to-make bites feature tender onion centers wrapped in a crispy, golden-brown batter for a mouthwatering snack or side dish.

Ingredients

– 1 large onion, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rings

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1 teaspoon onion powder

– 1 teaspoon paprika

– 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

– Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

1. – Separate the onion rings and place them in a large bowl.

2. – In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.

3. – Dredge the onion rings in the seasoned flour, coating them completely.

4. – In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F.

5. – Working in batches, carefully add the coated onion rings to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.

6. – Transfer the fried onion rings to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

7. – Serve the Bite-Sized Blooming Onions warm, with your favorite dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

For extra crispiness, you can double-dip the onion rings in the seasoned flour before frying. Leftover onion rings can be reheated in a 400°F oven for 5-7 minutes to restore their crispiness.
