Ingredients
– 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
– 1/4 cup soy sauce
– 2 tablespoons honey
– 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon grated ginger
– 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
– 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
– 2 green onions, sliced
– Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
1. 1. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, and Chinese five-spice powder.
2. 2. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat evenly. Cover and marinate for 15 minutes.
3. 3. Preheat oven to 425°F.
4. 4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until lightly browned.
5. 5. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
6. 6. Remove the skillet from the oven and garnish the Char Siu Chicken with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
7. 7. Serve immediately over steamed rice.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can marinate the chicken for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator. The longer the chicken marinates, the more intense the flavors will be.
