Ingredients
– 1 1/2 cups warm water
– 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
– 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
– 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
1. – In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
2. – Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
3. – Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. – Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. – Punch down the dough to release air bubbles. Roll or pat the dough into a large rectangle.
6. – Spread the melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle with the shredded cheese and minced garlic.
7. – Starting from the short end, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
8. – Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and arrange in a greased 9×13 baking dish.
9. – Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
10. – Preheat the oven to 375°F. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
