Indulge in the warmth and comfort of our classic Christmas Bread, a timeless holiday treat that’s sure to become a new family tradition. Infused with the fragrant spices of the season and a rich, buttery texture, this bread is perfect for sharing with loved ones during the most wonderful time of the year.

Ingredients

– 3 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 tablespoon active dry yeast

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 1 cup warm milk

– 2 large eggs

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. 1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.

2. 2. Add the softened butter, warm milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Using a stand mixer with a dough hook or your hands, knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.

3. 3. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4. 4. Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a round loaf.

5. 5. Place the loaves on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.

6. 6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C).

7. 7. Bake the Christmas Bread for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

8. 8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar.

9. 9. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

– For a richer flavor, replace 1/4 cup of the milk with 1/4 cup of heavy cream.

– Add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts or dried fruit to the dough for extra texture and flavor.

– Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
