Ingredients
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1 egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– Holiday-themed sprinkles or decorations (optional)
Instructions
1. – Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. – In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
3. – Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
4. – In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
5. – Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
6. – Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
7. – Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
8. – Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
9. – If desired, decorate the cooled cookies with holiday-themed sprinkles or decorations.
Notes
For a festive touch, you can add a teaspoon of ground cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough. These cookies also freeze well for up to 3 months.
