Description

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1 egg

– 3/4 cup milk

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

– Vegetable oil for frying

– Powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

1. – In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

2. – In a separate bowl, beat the egg. Add the milk and melted butter and mix well.

3. – Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined (do not overmix).

4. – Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven to 350°F.

5. – Using a donut cutter or two different size round cookie cutters, cut the dough into donut shapes.

6. – Fry the donuts in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown.

7. – Drain the donuts on a paper towel-lined plate and dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm.

8. – Serve the Christmas Donuts immediately for maximum enjoyment.

Notes

– For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter.
