Description

Indulge in the irresistible combination of soft, buttery pretzel and a crunchy cinnamon sugar coating with these homemade Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Sticks. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or anytime treat.


Ingredients

– 1 1/2 cups warm water

– 1 tablespoon active dry yeast

– 1 teaspoon granulated sugar

– 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar

– 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon


Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

3. Add the melted butter to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.

4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the yeast mixture, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.

5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

6. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

7. Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces.

8. Roll each piece into a long, thin rope, about 1/2 inch thick and 8 inches long.

9. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Working in batches, boil the pretzel sticks for 30 seconds on each side. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.

10. Bake at 450°F for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.

11. In a shallow bowl, mix together the 1/2 cup of sugar and cinnamon.

12. While the pretzel sticks are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.

13. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a sweeter version, increase the cinnamon sugar coating to 3/4 cup sugar and 3 teaspoons cinnamon. Store leftover pretzel sticks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
