Description

Cowboy Cabbage is a delicious and comforting vegetarian dish that’s perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. This recipe features tender cabbage, smoky bacon, and a blend of spices for a savory and flavorful dish.

Ingredients

– 1 head green cabbage, sliced

– 6 slices bacon, diced

– 1 onion, diced

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

– 1/2 teaspoon chili powder

– 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

– Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. 1. In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, reserving the bacon grease in the skillet.

2. 2. Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.

3. 3. Add the minced garlic and continue cooking for 1 minute, until fragrant.

4. 4. Add the sliced cabbage to the skillet and sauté for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender.

5. 5. Stir in the smoked paprika, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

6. 6. Toss the crispy bacon back into the skillet and stir to combine.

7. 7. Serve the Cowboy Cabbage hot and enjoy!

Notes

This recipe can be easily customized by adding or substituting different vegetables, spices, or even diced chicken or sausage for a heartier dish. For a creamier version, stir in a tablespoon of sour cream or heavy cream at the end.
