Description

Capture the essence of the wilderness with this easy, homemade Fireweed Syrup. Drizzle over pancakes, waffles, or use in cocktails for a truly unique and delightful experience.

Ingredients

– 2 cups fresh fireweed blossoms

– 2 cups granulated sugar

– 2 cups water

Instructions

1. In a medium saucepan, combine the fireweed blossoms, sugar, and water.

2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has fully dissolved, about 5 minutes.

3. Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup steep for 30 minutes.

4. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible.

5. Transfer the strained syrup to a clean, airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

The syrup will keep for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. For a thicker consistency, simmer the syrup for a bit longer. Fireweed blossoms can be substituted with other edible flowers, such as lavender or rose petals.
