Description

Garlic Herb Butter Roast Turkey is the ultimate holiday centerpiece. This juicy, flavorful bird is basted in a delicious garlic herb butter mixture for an unbelievably crispy skin and tender, moist meat.

Ingredients

– 1 (12-15 lb) whole turkey, thawed if frozen

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 4 cloves garlic, minced

– 2 tbsp fresh chopped rosemary

– 2 tbsp fresh chopped thyme

– 1 tsp salt

– 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat oven to 325°F.

2. 2. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper until well combined.

3. 3. Rinse the turkey and pat it dry with paper towels. Loosen the skin and spread half of the garlic herb butter mixture under the skin, then spread the remaining butter over the outside of the skin.

4. 4. Place the turkey in a large roasting pan. Roast for 2.5 to 3 hours, basting every 30 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F in the thickest part of the breast and 175°F in the thigh.

5. 5. Allow the turkey to rest for 20-30 minutes before carving and serving.

Notes

For extra crispy skin, you can rub the outside of the turkey with a bit of olive oil or melted butter before applying the garlic herb butter. Leftover turkey can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
