Ingredients

– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

– 1 egg

– 1/4 cup molasses

– 2 cups powdered sugar

– 3 tablespoons milk

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

1. – Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. – In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.

3. – In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and molasses.

4. – Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

5. – Roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.

6. – Place the cookies 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheets.

7. – Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the edges are lightly browned. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

8. – In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Spread or drizzle the icing over the cooled cookies.
