These Halloween Sugar Cookies are a classic, crowd-pleasing treat that are easy to make and perfect for baking with kids. Soft, pillowy cookies are decorated with vibrant orange, black, and purple sprinkles for a festive touch.
Ingredients
– 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1 large egg
– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
– Assorted Halloween sprinkles and decorations
Instructions
1. – Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. – In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. – In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
4. – Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
5. – Roll the dough out to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Use Halloween-themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
6. – Place the shaped cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
7. – Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges just begin to lightly brown.
8. – Remove from the oven and immediately decorate with Halloween sprinkles and decorations.
9. – Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling and cutting. This helps the cookies hold their shape better. You can also freeze the unbaked cookie dough for up to 3 months.
