Ingredients
– 1 package refrigerated pizza dough
– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup diced pepperoni
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 teaspoon dried oregano
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
3. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter or knife to cut out heart-shaped pieces of dough.
4. In a small bowl, mix together the mozzarella cheese, diced pepperoni, olive oil, oregano, garlic powder, and salt.
5. Place a heaping tablespoon of the cheese and pepperoni mixture onto the center of each heart-shaped dough piece.
6. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and use a fork to crimp and seal the edges.
7. Arrange the sealed heart-shaped pizza pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
9. Serve the heart-shaped pepperoni pizza pockets warm, with a side of marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
Notes
For a variation, try using different types of cheese or toppings, such as spinach, mushrooms, or olives. These pockets can also be frozen for later enjoyment – simply bake from frozen for a few extra minutes.
