Description

Homemade cheddar herb crackers are a deliciously crispy and flavorful snack that’s quick and easy to make. With a buttery, flaky texture and a blend of savory cheddar and aromatic herbs, these crackers are perfect for entertaining or casual snacking.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

– 2 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, or parsley)

– 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or two forks until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped herbs.

5. Add the cold water and mix until a dough forms.

6. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to about 1/8-inch thickness.

7. Use a cookie cutter or knife to cut the dough into desired shapes.

8. Transfer the crackers to a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.

9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crackers are golden brown and crispy.

10. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before serving.

Notes

For a stronger herb flavor, you can increase the amount of chopped fresh herbs. You can also experiment with different types of cheese, such as parmesan or sharp cheddar. The crackers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
