Description
This Homemade One Pot Hamburger Helper is a hearty and flavorful twist on the classic convenience dish. It’s made entirely from scratch with ground beef, pasta, and a rich, creamy cheese sauce for a comforting and satisfying weeknight meal.
Ingredients
– 1 lb ground beef
– 1 onion, diced
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 cups milk
– 2 cups beef broth
– 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
– 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
– 1 tbsp dried Italian seasoning
– 1 tsp salt
– 1/2 tsp black pepper
– 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
– 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
1. 1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled, 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
2. 2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
3. 3. Pour in the milk, beef broth, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
4. 4. Add the uncooked elbow macaroni and stir. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
5. 5. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and fully incorporated.
6. 6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a spicier version, add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes. You can also use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef. The recipe can be easily doubled to feed a crowd.
