Description

Honey Cornbread is a classic, comforting quick bread that’s tender, sweet, and incredibly easy to make. This foolproof recipe yields a moist and flavorful cornbread that’s perfect for pairing with chili, stews, or enjoying on its own.

Ingredients

– 1 cup cornmeal

– 1 cup all-purpose flour

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1 tablespoon baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 1 cup milk

– 1/3 cup honey

– 2 large eggs

– 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

1. – Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan or a 9-inch round cake pan.

2. – In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

3. – In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, honey, eggs, and melted butter.

4. – Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined, being careful not to overmix.

5. – Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

6. – Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. – Allow the honey cornbread to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

– For a sweeter cornbread, increase the honey to 1/2 cup.

– Serve the honey cornbread warm, with a pat of butter or a drizzle of extra honey.

– Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
