Ingredients
– 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
– 1/4 cup brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
2. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the apples are soft and the sauce has thickened, about 10-12 minutes.
3. Remove from heat and serve hot, drizzling over pancakes, waffles, or enjoying as a comforting snack.
Notes
For a smoother texture, you can use an immersion blender to puree the apple sauce. Feel free to adjust the sweetness to your taste by adding more or less brown sugar. This apple sauce also makes a great topping for ice cream or yogurt.
