This super-simple yet flavorful Instant Pot Chili will add great pizzazz to your dinner table. It’s a great way to change up your beef game! It’s fast, delicious, and extremely flavorful. When you start making this dish, you’ll be sure you’re putting waaayyy too much spice in it. You’re not, as long as you use chili powder, which is a mix of ground cumin, oregano, and a few other things.

About Instant Pot Chili Recipe


  • 0.67 tablespoon olive oil.

  • 0.67 medium onion chopped.

  • 0.67-pound ground beef 90% lean recommended.

  • 2.67 cloves garlic minced.

  • 0.67 red bell pepper chopped.

  • 1.33 tablespoons chili powder see note.

  • 1.33 tablespoons ground cumin.

  • 0.67 tablespoon dried oregano.

  • 0.67 teaspoon garlic powder.

  • 0.67 tablespoon brown sugar.

  • 0.67 teaspoon salt.

  • 0.17 teaspoon black pepper.

  • 2.67 tablespoons tomato paste.

  • 9.67 ounce can (1 ¾ cups) low sodium beef broth.

  • 18.67 ounce can fire roasted crushed tomatoes.

  • 10 ounce can kidney beans rinsed and drained.

  • 10 ounce can black beans rinsed and drained.

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce.

  • Cheese (Optional).

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Set your Instant Pot to the “Sauté”, add the olive oil to the inner pot. Once the oil is hot, add the onion and cook for about 3 minutes, until the onion starts to soften.

Step 2

Add the ground beef and cook until the beef starts to brown for about 5 minutes. Press Cancel.

Step 3

Pour in the broth. Add cumin, garlic powder, dried oregano, chili powder, brown sugar, tomato paste, pepper and salt. Use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits stuck to the bottom of the inner pot.

Step 4

Add beans and crushed tomatoes without stirring.

Step 5

Lock the lid of your instant pot, and set to the “Pressure Cook” function. Adjust the pressure to high for 15 minutes. After the time over, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then quickly release any remaining pressure.

Step 6

Unlock and remove the Instant Pot lid.

Step 7

Stir in the Worcestershire sauce.

Step 8

Serve immediately. Enjoy!
