Foolproof 10-Minute Monte Cristo Sliders

  • Author: Tyler Brown
  • Total Time: 25
  • Yield: 12 servings

Description

These bite-sized Monte Cristo Sliders are the perfect combination of savory and sweet. Layers of fluffy bread, melted Swiss cheese, and savory ham are dipped in a custard-like batter and fried to golden-brown perfection. A drizzle of raspberry jam adds a delightful finishing touch to these irresistible handheld treats.

Ingredients

– 12 slices white bread

– 6 slices Swiss cheese

– 6 slices ham

– 2 eggs

– 1/2 cup milk

– 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

– 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, plus more for dusting

– 2 tablespoons butter

– 1/2 cup raspberry jam

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Using a round cookie cutter or biscuit cutter, cut 12 circles out of the bread slices, creating mini sandwich rounds.

3. Place one slice of Swiss cheese and one slice of ham between two bread rounds to create a mini sandwich.

4. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and flour until well combined.

5. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

6. Dip each mini sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides.

7. Carefully place the coated sandwiches in the hot skillet and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

8. Transfer the fried Monte Cristo Sliders to a baking sheet and keep warm in the preheated oven while you fry the remaining sandwiches.

9. Once all the sliders are fried, dust them generously with powdered sugar.

10. Serve the Monte Cristo Sliders warm, with a side of raspberry jam for dipping.

Notes

– For a richer flavor, use challah or brioche bread instead of white bread.

– Experiment with different cheese and meat combinations, such as cheddar and turkey or brie and prosciutto.

– To make ahead, fry the sliders and keep them warm in the oven until ready to serve. Dust with powdered sugar just before serving.
