Description

These Mushroom and Cheese Pinwheels are a delectable and easy-to-make appetizer that will delight your taste buds. Flaky puff pastry is filled with a savory blend of sautéed mushrooms and melted cheese, creating a mouthwatering flavor combination that’s perfect for parties, gatherings, or a tasty snack.

Ingredients

– 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

– 8 oz. mushrooms, finely chopped

– 1/2 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)

– 2 tbsp. unsalted butter

– 1 clove garlic, minced

– 1 tsp. dried thyme

– 1/4 tsp. salt

– 1/8 tsp. black pepper

Instructions

1. 1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. 2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped mushrooms, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the liquid has evaporated.

3. 3. Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle, approximately 12×9 inches.

4. 4. Spread the sautéed mushroom mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a 1-inch border along the edges.

5. 5. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the mushroom mixture.

6. 6. Starting from the long side, tightly roll up the puff pastry like a jelly roll.

7. 7. Cut the rolled pastry into 1-inch slices, creating your pinwheels.

8. 8. Place the pinwheels cut-side up on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

9. 9. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

10. 10. Serve the Mushroom and Cheese Pinwheels warm and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese or a drizzle of balsamic glaze on top of the pinwheels.
