Description
Indulge in the flavors of Oktoberfest with this delectable stew featuring lager beer and smoky sausage. This comforting dish is perfect for chilly autumn nights and captures the essence of the beloved German festival.
Ingredients
– 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
– 1 onion, diced
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 carrots, peeled and diced
– 3 potatoes, peeled and diced
– 2 cups lager beer
– 2 cups beef broth
– 1 tsp caraway seeds
– 1 tsp paprika
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
1- Start by browning the beef chuck roast in batches to develop a nice sear on the exterior, locking in all that delicious flavor.
2- Once the beef is browned, sauté the onions and garlic until they’re softened and fragrant, creating the aromatic base for the Oktoberfest Stew With Lager and Smoked Sausage.
3- Deglaze the pot with the lager beer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom, then let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the alcohol to cook off.
4- Add the smoked sausage, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, and a blend of herbs and spices. The stew should now be simmering away, filling your kitchen with the inviting aroma of Oktoberfest.
5- Cover the pot and let the Oktoberfest Stew With Lager and Smoked Sausage simmer for 90 minutes, until the beef is incredibly tender.
6- Ladle the Oktoberfest Stew With Lager and Smoked Sausage into bowls, garnish with a sprinkle of chopped parsley, and serve piping hot, ready to transport you to the heart of Oktoberfest.
Notes
For a heartier stew, you can also add cubed potatoes or diced rutabaga. To make it vegetarian, substitute the sausage with diced portobello mushrooms or vegetarian sausage.
