Ingredients

– 1 cup pumpkin puree

– 1 cup sourdough starter

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon baking powder

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

– 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

1. – Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. – In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and sourdough starter. Mix well.

3. – In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.

4. – Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until a smooth dough forms.

5. – Knead the dough for a few minutes on a lightly floured surface.

6. – Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan.

7. – Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8. – Drizzle the honey over the hot bread and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a crispier crust, brush the top of the loaf with a beaten egg or milk before baking. You can also add chopped nuts or dried fruit to the dough for extra flavor and texture.
