Description

This Slow Cooker Chicken Shawarma is a comforting and flavorful dish that fills your kitchen with the aromatic spices of the Middle East. The chicken becomes incredibly tender and juicy after simmering for hours in the slow cooker, making it a hassle-free and delicious meal.

Ingredients

– 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs

– 1 tbsp ground cumin

– 1 tbsp ground coriander

– 1 tsp smoked paprika

– 1 tsp garlic powder

– 1 tsp onion powder

– 1 tsp salt

– 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

– 1 onion, sliced

– 3 cloves garlic, minced

– 1/4 cup lemon juice

– 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

1. – Place the chicken thighs in the slow cooker.

2. – In a small bowl, combine the cumin, coriander, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken.

3. – Add the sliced onion and minced garlic to the slow cooker.

4. – Pour the lemon juice and olive oil over the chicken and vegetables.

5. – Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is very tender.

6. – Shred the chicken using two forks, and toss it with the cooking juices.

7. – Serve the Slow Cooker Chicken Shawarma warm, with warm pita bread, chopped parsley, lemon wedges, and your favorite toppings.

Notes

– For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in the spices for 30 minutes to 1 hour before adding to the slow cooker.

– Customize the spices to your taste – add more or less of each one to adjust the flavor profile.

– Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
