Ingredients
– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
– 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon chili powder
– 1 teaspoon cumin
– 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
– 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– Vegetable oil for frying
– Chopped cilantro, lime wedges, and spicy dipping sauce for serving
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, panko breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
2. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the beef mixture and roll them into compact balls.
3. In a large skillet, heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
4. Working in batches, carefully add the Spicy Mexican Donkey Balls to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
5. Transfer the fried Donkey Balls to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
6. Serve the Spicy Mexican Donkey Balls warm, garnished with chopped cilantro and lime wedges. Provide a spicy dipping sauce on the side for an extra kick of flavor.
Notes
For a creamier texture, you can add 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese to the beef mixture. For a healthier option, bake the Donkey Balls in the oven at 400°F for 15-20 minutes instead of frying.
