Ingredients

– 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

– 2 tbsp granulated sugar

– 1 bottle (750ml) chilled champagne or sparkling wine

– Mint sprigs for garnish (optional)

– Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, gently muddle the sliced strawberries and sugar until the berries are slightly crushed and the sugar has dissolved.

2. Divide the strawberry mixture evenly among 6 chilled champagne flutes or glasses.

3. Carefully top each glass with chilled champagne or sparkling wine, leaving a bit of room at the top for the foam.

4. Garnish each float with a mint sprig, if desired.

5. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

– For a sweeter float, add an additional 1-2 tbsp of sugar when muddling the strawberries.

– Experiment with different types of berries or citrus fruits for a fun twist on this classic recipe.

– Store any leftover strawberry mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
