Description

Elevate your appetizers and cheese boards with this homemade Sweet Onion Fig And Orange Chutney. The perfect balance of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors makes this chutney a versatile condiment.

Ingredients

– 2 large sweet onions, diced

– 1 cup chopped fresh figs

– 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

– 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

– 2 tablespoons brown sugar

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

– 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. In a large skillet, sauté the diced onions over medium heat until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

2. Add the chopped figs, orange juice, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt. Stir to combine.

3. Reduce heat to low and simmer the chutney for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and the flavors have melded.

4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Transfer the chutney to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to develop.

5. Serve the Sweet Onion Fig And Orange Chutney with cheese, meats, or as a topping for sandwiches and burgers.

Notes

This chutney can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. It also freezes well for up to 3 months.
