Ingredients
– 5 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
– 1 cup whole milk
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 tsp salt
– 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
1. – Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat.
2. – Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the potatoes are fork-tender.
3. – Drain the potatoes and return them to the hot pot for 1-2 minutes to evaporate any excess moisture.
4. – Add the milk and butter to the potatoes and mash with a potato masher or electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
5. – Stir in the salt and pepper until well combined.
6. – Serve the Thanksgiving Mashed Potatoes hot, garnished with extra butter and chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
For extra-rich and creamy mashed potatoes, you can add up to 1/2 cup more butter. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
