Description
This Tomato Chilli Jam is a quick and easy condiment that packs a delightful punch of sweet and spicy flavors. Made with juicy tomatoes, fiery chili peppers, and a touch of sugar, it’s the perfect topping for crackers, crostini, meats, and more.
Ingredients
– 2 pounds ripe tomatoes, chopped
– 3 jalapeño peppers, seeded and finely chopped
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
1. In a large saucepan, combine the chopped tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, sugar, vinegar, salt, cumin, and cinnamon.
2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently.
3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes, or until the jam has thickened to your desired consistency.
4. Remove the pan from the heat and let the Tomato Chilli Jam cool slightly.
5. Transfer the jam to sterilized jars or an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
– For a spicier jam, leave some or all of the jalapeño seeds.
– The jam can be canned for longer-term storage using proper canning techniques.
– Experiment with different types of chili peppers to adjust the heat level.
