Description

Discover the secrets to making the perfect traditional Turkish bread at home. This easy 5-minute recipe yields a mouthwatering, fluffy loaf that’s perfect for dipping, sandwiches, and more.

Ingredients

– 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour

– 1 teaspoon active dry yeast

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 1/4 cups (300ml) warm water

– 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil.

2. Using a wooden spoon or your hands, mix the ingredients until a shaggy dough forms.

3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

5. Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles, then shape it into a round loaf and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

6. Cover the loaf with a damp towel and let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.

7. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

8. Bake the bread for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the interior is cooked through.

9. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, you can spritz the loaf with water a few times during baking. Experiment with different toppings, such as sesame seeds or za’atar, for added flavor.
