Ingredients
– 12 egg roll wrappers
– 1 pound ground pork
– 2 cups shredded cabbage
– 1 cup shredded carrots
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 tablespoon soy sauce
– 1 teaspoon sesame oil
– 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
– 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
– Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, cabbage, carrots, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and black pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
2. Place an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface in a diamond shape. Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the pork mixture onto the lower third of the wrapper.
3. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll the wrapper tightly to enclose the filling.
4. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F. Carefully add the rolled egg rolls and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
5. Remove the egg rolls from the oil and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate.
6. Serve the Voodoo Egg Rolls hot, accompanied by your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute the ground pork with finely chopped mushrooms or diced tofu. You can also experiment with different fillings, such as shredded chicken or a mixture of vegetables.
