Description

Indulge in the irresistible aroma and flavor of these Winter Coffee Brioche Buns, a traditional European treat made with a rich, buttery dough and infused with the comforting notes of coffee. Perfect for a cozy morning or afternoon delight.

Ingredients

– 3 cups (375g) all-purpose flour

– 1 tablespoon (10g) active dry yeast

– 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon (5g) salt

– 1/2 cup (120ml) warm milk

– 2 eggs, at room temperature

– 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened

– 2 tablespoons (30ml) strong brewed coffee, cooled

Instructions

1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center.

2. 2. Pour in the warm milk and add the eggs. Using a wooden spoon or your hands, mix until a shaggy dough forms.

3. 3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

4. 4. Add the softened butter, one tablespoon at a time, kneading it in until fully incorporated.

5. 5. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

6. 6. Punch down the dough to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces and roll each piece into a bun shape.

7. 7. Place the buns on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.

8. 8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

9. 9. Brush the tops of the buns with the cooled coffee.

10. 10. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.

11. 11. Allow the buns to cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can add 1 tablespoon of instant coffee powder to the dough. The buns can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
