Ingredients
– 1 cup (240 ml) honey
– 3 eggs
– 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
– 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions
1. 1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) round baking pan and set aside.
2. 2. In a large bowl, whisk together the honey, eggs, and sugar until well combined.
3. 3. Stir in the melted butter and mix until fully incorporated.
4. 4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves.
5. 5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined (do not overmix).
6. 6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
7. 7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
8. 8. Remove the cake from the oven and immediately drizzle the top with additional honey.
9. 9. Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter. To make the cake extra moist, you can also soak the warm cake in additional honey before serving.
